Gallery at Yesteryear Featuring Randie D. Johnson Water Color & Pastel PO Box 321 Woodstock, Maryland 21163 410-442-1816
Biography Randie has been an artist almost all her life. Her first oil painting studies were in her hometown at the Warren County Art League. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. While at Bucknell she took advantage of a chance to study drawing and painting with Professors William Lasansky and John Beckley. Living in Howard County Maryland is great for an artist because of all the cultural opportunities. Randie has been able to take courses at the local art centers. She turned to watercolor and pastel for her painting mediums, and completed some commissioned works as well as her personal art. She has a loosely realistic way of painting and enjoys painting nature, still lifes and people. She also likes making colorful abstract works and is trying her hand at book illustration. In 1971 she joined the Howard County Art Guild and began showing her work in their group shows. Her paintings have been included in the following guild shows; Mill River Gallery in Oella, Quiet Waters Gallery in Annapolis, Baltimore Hebrew Congregation in Baltimore, Heron Point in Chestertown, Kohler Blumberg Memorial Judged Show in Columbia, WSSA Show in Laurel, Federal Reserve Bank Show in Baltimore, Slayton House Show in Columbia, Hoffberger Gallery Show in Baltimore, and 2000 Views, a millenial exhibition of small works by the Howard County Center of the Arts.
