Biography

With musicians, doll makers, quilters, and needlework artisans in her family, Marilyn has always had an appreciation for various art forms.  However, it wasn't until later in life that she realized how much she loved painting.  She has had virtually no formal art education, and is mostly self-taught.

Marilyn originally experimented with acrylics, and developed her talent with self-study and experimentation and by attending an occasional local workshop.  She has displayed her acrylics at art and craft fairs and in shops selling gifts and art work.  She also has done some commission work.

Because of her love for watercolors, Marilyn decided to expand into that medium.  In 2004 she started working with nationally known watercolor artist, Terry Madden,  She has participated in watercolor workshops with Terry Madden and Tom Lynch.  While she paints mostly on paper, she also works with watercolor canvas to create the impression of an oil painting.

Marilyn does landscapes, still- life, florals, exotic birds and just about anything that she finds appealing.  She says "I have always painted for self enjoyment, however, I love sharing it with others and derive a great deal of pleasure when my work is appreciated. I hope I can continue to improve my skills and technique so that I can bring a small measure of happiness to those who see my paintings."
