Watercolor and Acrylic Biography Frederick William Roth, of Glen Burnie, is a versatile artist who works in many mediums. His realistic, yet slightly impressionistic style is conveyed through his use of watercolor, acrylics, pastel, pen and ink, and pencil. He is also a talented photographer. For the most part Fred is a maritime artist/photographer. "I chronicle our harbor and its development and tugboats their deployment." For the most part, Fred is self-taught, although he has had some instruction here and there. He spent much of his life drawing and painting, learning from his mother who is a life long schooled artist and at 91 years of age is still painting and exhibiting in southeastern Pennsylvania. Fred studied fine arts in high school and later studied under Professor Donald McKinney of West Chester State University and took some courses at Anne Arundel Community College. Fred, himself, teaches a basic watercolor and drawing course at A. C. Moore in Glen Burnie. Prior to his retirement from Law Enforcement, Fred's work was exhibited at the West Chester, Pennsylvania Art Association and also in the Northern Anne Arundel County Library in Glen Burnie. Now that he is pursuing art as a full time career, Fred's work can be seen not only at the Art Gallery of Fells Point but also at the Picture Show Gallery on St John Street in Havre de Grace, Maryland, Custom Framing of Glen Burnie, and The Gallery at Yesteryear in Mount Airy, Maryland. Artists that have impressed and influenced the work of Fred Roth are Toulouse Letrec, Vincent Van Gogh, Winslow Homer, Salvadore Dali, Yves Tangeg and Andrew Wyeth.
